Jill is very proud to have been a founding member and past president of The Penguin Players of Racine, WI. She remained active in the troupe until 1998 when her full schedule with guitarist-husband Jack Grassel disallowed further active participation. The Penguins Players was begun by the late Ron Tiegland, who united several performers from the annual St. Mary's Hospital benefit show, Cardiac Capers. Jill's participation in these three decades of shows have forged eduring friendships and working alliances with scores of talented actors and respected musicians from all over southeastern Wisconsin. Jill has acted in television commercials and been heard off-camera for numerous satisfied adver-tisers. Along with her singing fame, she is to this day, recognized and greeted as having been the television "spokesperson" for Schaefer Motor Sales in Racine, WI for almost 10 years. During that time, vehicle sales soared. As folks clamored for information about her, Schaefer responded to the popular demand, and printed this feature story in a Spring 2000, newsletter. (To read, click Meet Jill Jensen - The Schaefer Lady) People everywhere grew fond of friendly Jill from having her as a highly visible part of their lives for so long. She still enjoys many impulsive hugs from affectionate strangers who recognize her. Jill's greatest moments in her acting career were in The Racine Theatre Guild productions of "Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean" 1986, as Sissy and "Rough Crossing." as Natahsa, 1989. Of Jill's role as Sissy, reviewer David Thome wrote: "The best performance... belonged to Jill ...who makes a convincing switch from silly to serious without getting maudlin...with outstanding timing, movements and delivery." And from Terry Garvey, "Jill's portrayal of Sissy stole the show." "Rough Crossing" went on to tour in Tbilisi, Georgia (formerly U.S.S.R.) That four week joyous experience in those exotic places with excellent musicians and actors, perfectly exemplify that which is the most common denominator of all human beings - the universal language of music and art. Jill remains active as a voice talent in speaking engagements, recorded narrations, and radio and television commercials.
